2007 Teaching and Training Project:
Bringing English Training to Rural China for the Third Consecutive Year
By Richard Zhao
Volunteer Lake Forest Academy (LFA) ESL teachers Connie McCabe and Candy Darnell arrived in Yingtan on June 17th for the 2007 Teaching and Training Project (TTP).
More than 80 elementary and junior high school teachers from Yingtan (which includes 4 municipal districts including Yujiang) will participate in the three-week training.
This is McCabe’s first and Darnell’s second time working as volunteers for the annual TTP organized by Operation D.E.E.P. Darnell was in Yujiang last year for D.E.E.P.’s 2006 TTP during which she gave training to more than 50 Yujiang English teachers.

McCabe and Darnell attended a welcome dinner hosted by the Yingtan Bureau of Education last night. Shi Ke, Deputy Major of Yingtan, also joined the dinner to welcome the volunteers and thank them for their dedication in helping Yingtan teachers strengthening their English speaking, writing, and listening capabilities.
The volunteers are scheduled to visit Jin-Ni LFA Hope School on June 20th (Wednesday), and training for the teachers will officially begin on June 21st (Thursday).
Please stay posted for upcoming photo journals.
